FAQ
Quick answers, honestly answered.
Do students need to install anything?
No. The editor, runtime, and grader all run in the browser. As long as a student has Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge, they can join a batch and start coding in under 30 seconds.
How are hidden tests kept hidden?
Tests run in a sandboxed container the student never sees. They get pass/fail signals and your custom feedback messages — never the test source.
Which languages are supported today?
Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, Rust, Java, C, C++, C#, Ruby, SQL, Kotlin, Swift, PHP, Bash, R, and 12 more. New runtimes ship every quarter.
Can I import my existing problems?
Yes. Flame imports from Markdown frontmatter and from common LMS exports (Moodle, Canvas, simple JSON). We have a CLI for batch migrations.
What about academic integrity?
Every submission is timestamped, code-fingerprinted, and replayable. We surface near-duplicate clusters in the teacher dashboard so you can investigate quickly.
Is there a free tier for individual learners?
Yes — Starter is free forever and includes the labs, the grader (with public tests), and joining up to 2 batches. Paid tiers add premium runtime tooling.
